George H.W. Bush, 41st President of the United States and William J. Clinton, 42nd President of the United States, to address NADA Convention on Monday, January 27
Following Hurricane Katrina in August 2005, Former President George H.W. Bush and Former President Bill Clinton established the Bush-Clinton Katrina Fund to assist in the rebuilding effort by identifying and meeting the unmet needs in the region, fostering economic opportunity, and improving the quality of life of those affected. This campaign was the second collaboration for the former presidents; the two previously worked together to raise funds to support relief and recovery efforts following the tsunami in South Asia.
Recently, Presidents Bush and Clinton partnered again to announce the Bush-Clinton Coastal Recovery Rund in response to this year's devastating hurricane season, during which several storms have claimed lives, interrupted others and left communities in shambles along wth Gulf Coast. This fund seeks to not only help rebuild and restore damaged communities, but will help identify ways in which communities can make sustainable improvements and increase the quality of living.
George H. W. Bush, 41st President of the United States
As President, George Bush oversaw the end of the Cold War, inlcuding the tearing down of the Berlin Wall, the reunification of Germany, and the implosion of the Soviet Union. He brought together a historic coalition of countries to participate in Desert Storm, which liberated Kuwait from Saddam Hussein. His domestic accomplishments included the sweeping Clear Air Act, the American with Disabilities Act and the rescue of the savings and loan industry.
William J. Clinton, 42nd President of the United States
Under President Clinton's leadership, the U.S. enjoyed the strongest economy in a generation and the longest economic expansion in U.S. history. His administration resulted in moving the nation from record deficits to record surpluses; the creation of over 22 million jobs; low levels of unemployment, poverty and crime; an the highest homeownership and college enrollments rates in history.
